Point Reyes Books hosted a special event last Saturday featuring the authors of Tamalpais Walking. It was held at Toby's Feed Barn—many of the attendees were perched on hay bales ingenuously stacked into grandstand seating—in Point Reyes Station and proceeds from the night went to Mt. Tamalpais conservation projects and the North Columbia Schoolhouse Cultural Center in Nevada City. The audience of about 250 listened to Gary Snyder and Tom Killion's insights on the history and culture of Marin County's beloved Mt. Tamalpais, along with a reading by local poet Laurie Stoetling and a brief presentation on the origins of walking traditions by Rebecca Solnit.
