In this Zoom presentation, Robin Lee Carlson will talk about how her book began as a nature journaling journey and developed into an exploration of art, ecology, and fire in the Western US. Robin will talk about her process and about how she integrated visual and narrative storytelling. She will also discuss the ‘ecoreportage’ (reporting from the perspective of the environment) aspect of the project, especially what it has meant to continue the project for seven years. She will guide participants in a virtual field trip, to sketch some examples of the plant and animal species she encountered.

The presentation will be interactive throughout, with opportunities for participants to sketch along and to ask questions about the book and Robin’s process. Bring paper, pen, and paint or colored pencils if you’d like to join in!
