L. John Harris discusses his new book published by Heyday, Portrait in Red, at the Hillside Club for their Fireside Meeting: “Turning the Inside Out: Four Memoirists Explore the Personal Narrative.” Harris is joined by authors Nina Renata Aron, Summer Brenner, and Zack Rogow.

L. John Harris details his journey to uncover the mystery behind a mesmerizing painting of a girl he found on a Paris street in Portrait in Red: A Paris Obsession. It’s an often-funny, surreal detective story in which the author makes connections between Paris right before World War II, his bohemian life in Berkeley, his search for the perfect croque monsieur and the nature of art itself.
