Laura Ackley, author of Jewel City, will take us on a “Whirlwind Tour of the PPIE,” her illustrated presentation of the 1915 World’s Fair. There will be a reception with refreshments and a book signing to follow and “Wells Fargo at the PPIE,” a special exhibition at the museum, will be on view.

Laura A. AckleyNow widely known for her expertise on the 1915 World’s Fair, Laura A. Ackley first became interested in the PPIE during an undergraduate course at UC Berkeley. After completing her first master’s degree in architecture at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design, she returned to Berkeley to research the PPIE for a second master’s degree, this one in architecture history and theory. Ackley specializes in 3D visualization of historic architecture and taught 3D modeling and animation for fourteen years. She lives in the Bay Area.
