Mother Goose in California debuts with a bang

Mother Goose in California author/illustrator Doug Hansen had his first bookstore event in Fresno on Saturday (March 7) and it’s fair to say it was a smashing success. Fig Garden Bookstore ordered a little more than 200 books for the event, but ended up having to backorder around 200 more for customers. In other words, Hansen sold over 400 books in one day! The success of the event was aided by the tremendous job Fig Garden did in promoting the event and by a Fresno Bee article. Hats off to all involved! What a way to kick off the book.

  1. Doug Hansen says

I hope it’s not bad form to comment on my own event! The most unexpected part of completing and promoting this book is the opportunities I’ve had to reconnect with friends from everywhere in my past. Parents from when the boys played soccer, former students from Fresno State, and fans from my days at the Fresno Bee have all shown up for these signings. It has been a wonderful experience. One book-buyer even brought her old copy of Frezno Funnies, a comic book of mine from 35 years ago to have me sign… a second time. What fun. The Fig Garden Bookstore and I go way back to at least 1991 when the first Fresno Sketchbook was published. I thank them for being such active promoters of Mother Goose in Caifornia. Doug Hansen
